The point here isn't to not make money online, but to understand how to go about it and what not to do. There is a lot of misinformation out there, the main goal of which is to put money in other people's pockets.
I frequently get asked about technology, including using the Internet to make money so I decided to create this site to share my thoughts and experiences with a broader audience. At the very least I have a place where I can direct people so I don't have to repeat myself.
There are thousands of blogs and sites out there that want to show you how to make money online. Unfortunately most of them have something to sell. Others that have sites on how to make money have had little or no success. They just copy content from others and don't have any more insight into profiting from the web than you do.
This site will hopefully be different.
There are many people out there that have the capacity to start earning money through internet related ventures, but not every one can. It's easy, but it's not THAT easy. You need to work at it, you need to be creative and you need a bit of luck too. Just like any other financial endeavor.

What I'm going to do on this site is explain some of the different ways to use the Internet to make money. Possibly some off line advice too and a whole lot of trying to get you to think in a way that will make things easier for you.
This is not a get rich quick site and there aren't going to be any easy formulas to start earning money in your sleep. This is not the place to learn how to point and click your way to profits.. The sites that claim you can are trying to sell you something.
If you take the time to learn new things you will be able to increase your current businesses potential, start a new business or start making some money on the side or even turn it into a full time career. It will be relatively easy, but you can't have the mentality that you can throw up a website and start shopping for Porches.
Why should I listen to you?
If you're reading this you might be wondering why you would want to take my advice. That's a fair question.
I started out as a web programmer in the mid 90's. It started off slow because at the time there wasn't much going on with the web but it was just starting to take off. I've worked for small and large companies, start-ups and established firms, both profitable and ones that crashed. I mainly build sites for other people but I'm developing sites for myself now. Even in the beginning, I was also interested in the business as well as technical side of things so this won't just be a technical guide.
I've always had sites I planned on building running through my head. Lately, I've been starting to build these sits for myself and putting them online. Some are doing well others, not so well. I'm not a multi-billionaire who can retire and do nothing but I've worked very closely with many that have. I hate the sound of that. The vision of late night infomercials trying to sell you their easy money system while someone is siting by a pool with beautiful models on each arm just popped into my head. The people I'm talking about were driven, hard working and smart. They didn't come by their money easily and they have no intention of retiring early. These are the people that have motivated me the most.
What topics will be covered
Part of the reason I'm creating this site, is to have a place to express and discuss my thoughts on business, both online and off, technology and related products and services. This isn't just going to be a collection of posts on get rich quick schemes.
The technical aspects are important. While there are many things you can do without knowing much of the technology behind it, I always feel it's worth knowing the fundamentals if you want to be successful. I still enjoy programming and I feel it is important. While you may not custom code your own websites and applications like me, it's good to at least understand what is going on. For that reason, there will be some technical posts.
I'm always looking to learn more, you have to in this sector. Hopefully you find what I'm learning and what I've learned useful and you'll come back and share your own experiences.
